JCCAC Presents 'Youth Arts Week' - A Summer of Arts

Description
The '17th Arts Ambassador Scheme' organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) kicks off its highlight programme - 'Youth Arts Week' today. From now until 17 August, a series of exciting art activities including art workshops, theatre performances and special exhibitions will be held at JCCAC, SHOWCASE and H6 CONET. The public is welcome to join. The activities will bring the Arts Ambassadors to the community to share their artistic achievements, while the senior ambassadors will also participate in various forms to showcase the spirit of 'Inheritance and Innovation.'
Official Launch of 'Youth Arts Week' - A Summer of Arts
At the opening ceremony today, in addition to the participation of senior ambassadors, a group of students who have completed the stage production and performance courses presented an excerpt from a black box theatre performance, immersing the audience in the charm of theatre. In addition, there was an art market on-site, featuring eight senior ambassadors who have embarked on careers in the cultural and arts sector. They displayed their creative works (including metal bookmarks, glass ornaments, paper crafts, oil pastel paintings, and ceramic crafts) and conducted workshops to teach art creation techniques. Guests and ambassadors took photos and made their own personalised phone straps as souvenirs in the interactive zone. The art market will be open to the public for free on 26 and 27 July (Saturday and Sunday) without prior reservation, offering a cultural and artistic weekend for all to enjoy.
Wong Chuk Hang 'My Breathing Diary' Exhibition - A Fusion of Arts and Technology
Apart from the art market, 'Youth Arts Week' will feature two special exhibitions from 2 to 17 August at SHOWCASE in Wong Chuk Hang and H6 CONET in Central, respectively. The 'My Breathing Diary' exhibition at SHOWCASE is curated by local art-tech theatre troupe 'Jumping Frames' and showcases the ambassadors' works and interactive installations that combine art and technology, leading visitors into a magical diary world. Visitors can dance with the stars, explore the stories of trees, and listen to the whispers of mushrooms, among other enchanting experiences. On 17 August, there will be three interactive theatre performances featuring ambassadors as actors, blending technology with performing arts for a unique artistic journey.
Central 'Between Communities: Topography, Flowing Light, Ink Shadows' Exhibition - Enriching Community Imagination
The other special exhibition, 'Between Communities: Topography, Flowing Light, Ink Shadows', takes place at H6 CONET in Central, displaying ambassadors' creations of community zines, Chinese calligraphy, and cold light neon art. Under the guidance of artist Lam Kin-choi and two senior ambassador mentors, Ho Wai-lam and Chan Pui-cheung, more than 30 ambassadors carefully observed the community and reinterpreted familiar urban spaces from diverse perspectives, resulting in unique artistic creations. The ambassadors not only presented their learning and creative outcomes but also invited the audience to appreciate the beauty of topography, light and shadows, and ink art through their works, enriching the public's understanding and imagination of the community.
Everyone is invited to join 'Youth Arts Week' and experience the charm of arts!
